Indianapolis IN – The Capital of Indiana

Indianapolis IN (also known as Indy) is the capital city of Indiana. It’s also home to four major interstate highways,making it a short distance from other Midwest cities like Chicago and Springfield,Illinois; Columbus,Ohio; Louisville and Lexington,Kentucky; and Detroit.

Indy is working to address housing issues that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. Initiatives include Nine13sports,which promotes health and exercise through an innovative cycling-meets-technology approach; Keep Indianapolis Beautiful,which promotes community beautification and environmental responsibility; and Arts for Learning,which provides hands-on visual arts experiences.

Home to Every Major Sport

Known for its state-of-the-art stadiums,Indianapolis has everything sports fans could ask for. Professional teams,collegiate athletics,and sports business governing bodies call the city home. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway,as well as Bankers Life Fieldhouse,are both world-class venues.

Since the Colts moved to town in 1984,the team has been a major success. Peyton Manning,one of the greatest quarterbacks in history,has won many titles.

In Indianapolis,basketball is big. The men’s and woman’s NBA teams — the Indiana Pacers and Fever — play in downtown’s Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. The IU Hoosiers,Purdue University Boilermakers and West Lafayette University Boilermakers can be found just one hour away.

The Indianapolis 500 is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since over a hundred years. The city has plenty of other options,too–like the Brickyard 400 and Moto GP.

The owner of the restaurant travels to Texas twice a years to buy mesquite for his barbeque. The restaurant is also known for its authentic Texas style barbeque and has been serving the community since 1926.

It’s a Big Ten City

The Big Ten is expanding its presence on the East Coast,with the conference opening a new office in New York City to provide expanded service and coverage. The new office will house conference staff who work in branding,championships and communications. The current conference offices in Rosemont will continue to be staffed by senior staff and Conference Commissioner James Delany.

Madtown,one of the most popular college towns in America,is known for its lively atmosphere,which thrives off Saturday football games during fall,State Street shopping,and brat hazes. The central campus of the university is framed by beautiful lakes and an emerging culinary scene. The university has an international reputation for research and has made a major contribution to Indiana’s economy. The city is a center of amateur sports,including the National Collegiate Athletic Association headquarters and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum. Lucas Oil Stadium,the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts’ home stadium,is located in the downtown area. Bankers Life Fieldhouse,formerly Conseco Fieldhouse,houses the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
